Moved by Music (Updated with ‘My Last Days: Meet Zach Sobiech)

Update – My Last Days: Meet Zach Sobiech – 10th May 2013

(by Sonya at LeanOnUs.)

The other day Kevin sent me a message about Zach Sobiech as he thought it would be perfect to share with our community. I agreed… (For those of you who don’t know Kevin… he heads the rock band Atomic Honey and shared his personal experience with us as well as being a wonderful support to our community. Kevin also recently shared a lovely tribute for the 5th anniversary of the passing of his dad, Larry Lanier, in conjunction with a special event ‘Maandag’ that he and Barry Burford, musician, DJ and goodwill ambassador to Kenya, kindly shared with us.)

Clouds… It’s beautifully inspirational and very moving.  Zach’s family are aiming to get as many YouTube views for him as they can as sadly Zach only has a short time left. We’d love you to share it around and show your support.

Zach is 17 but when he was 14 he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma which is cancer of the bone. His family set up the Zach Sobiech Osteosarcoma Fund to help with research as there are just under 400 children under that age of 20 diagnosed with it in the US. We’d love you to visit ‘Zach’s Story: Finding Peach Through Music’ and show your support by sharing it with your friends and followers!

CLOUDS LYRICS

Well I fell down, down, down
Into this dark and lonely hole
There was no one there to care about me anymore
And I needed a way to climb and grab a hold of the edge
You were sitting there holding a rope

And we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won’t be long now, it won’t be long now

When I get back on land
Well I’ll never get my chance
Be ready to live and it’ll be ripped right out of my hands
Maybe someday we’ll take a little ride
We’ll go up, up, up and everything will be just fine

And we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear

It won’t be long now, it won’t be long now
If only I had a little bit more time
If only I had a little bit more time with you

We could go up, up, up
And take that little ride
And sit there holding hands
And everything would be just right
And maybe someday I’ll see you again
We’ll float up in the clouds and we’ll never see the end

And we’ll go up, up, up
But I’ll fly a little higher
We’ll go up in the clouds because the view is a little nicer
Up here my dear
It won’t be long now, it won’t be long now

According to The Royal Marsden, approx 30 children develop it in the UK each year. You can also find more information about Osteosarcoma at the Macmillan Cancer Support website.

AND don’t forget that we are also always on the lookout for personal experiences that can help others so if you have a story that you would like to share with us you can email us@leanonus.co at any time.
